Breast surgery refers to any surgical procedure on the breast. There are different types of breast surgery, each with different goals:
Breast augmentation: This involves enlarging and improving the shape of the breasts using implants or fat transfer techniques. It is often used by people who want to have larger breasts or who want to restore breast volume lost due to factors such as pregnancy, weight loss or aging.
Breast reduction: Also known as reduction mammoplasty, this procedure is performed to reduce the size of excessively large breasts and relieve physical discomfort such as back, neck and shoulder pain. This involves removing excess breast tissue, skin and fat to achieve a more proportional breast size.
Breast lift: Also called mastopexy, this surgery aims to lift and reshape sagging breasts to create a more youthful, firmer appearance. Excess skin is removed, the nipple and areola are positioned higher, and the surrounding breast tissue is tightened.
Breast reconstruction: This surgery is performed to reconstruct one or both breasts after a mastectomy (surgical removal of one or both breasts), usually due to treatment for breast cancer. Reconstruction can be performed using implants, tissue expanders, or tissue flaps from other parts of the body.
Breast biopsy: A breast biopsy is a diagnostic procedure in which a small sample of breast tissue is removed to be examined under a microscope, usually to determine whether a lump or abnormality in the breast is cancerous or benign.
Breast Augmentation Revision: Involves the correction or revision of previous breast augmentation surgical procedures, such as: B. replacing implants, treating complications, or adjusting the size or shape of the breasts.
Breast-conserving surgery: This procedure, also called a lumpectomy or partial mastectomy, removes only the cancerous tissue from the breast while preserving the rest of the breast tissue. It is often performed as part of the treatment of breast cancer when the tumor is small and localized.
