Gallbladder Stones

Accumulation of solid particles in the gall bladder, usually composed of cholesterol or bilirubin.

Reason:
Imbalance in bile-forming substances (cholesterol, bilirubin, bile salts).

Shock wave lithotripsy: Rarely used, involves breaking up stones with shock waves.

Complications:
Gallstone pancreatitis: Blockage of the pancreatic duct by gallstones.
Cholecystitis: Inflammation of the gallbladder due to blockage by gallstones.
Cholangitis: Infection of the bile ducts due to blockage by gallstones.
Gallbladder cancer (rare).
